Cabaret: Villagers Theatre

Villagers Theatre will host "Contemporary Sounds: A Night of Up and Coming Talent" at 8 p.m. Jan. 4-5. All tickets cost $15.

"Contemporary Sounds" is a cabaret showcasing local youth performers, with all proceeds to benefit improvements to the Villagers Main Stage with the purchase of new soft goods.  This fund-raiser will feature contemporary musical theater songs, with some classics mixed in with performers from Villagers youth programs such as TeensVill, Miniature Musical Makers and summer camp, plus others who have been featured in Main Stage productions, and newcomers.

The show will feature new musical theater composers, such as Katie Thompson, Carner and Gregor, Kerrigan and Lowdermilk, Scott Alan, Ryan Scott Oliver, Joey Contreras, and Drew Gasparini. Contemporary sounds also will include songs from new Broadway musicals such as "Matilda the Musical," "Bring It On," "Newsies," "Jersey Boys," "The Hinterlands," "Once" and others.

Villagers Theatre is located at 475 Demott Lane, Somerset. "Contemporary Sounds: A Night of Up and Coming Talent" is produced by Donna Kimberlin, directed by Corey Rubel and features musical direction by Carl Phillips. Stage manager is Jack Tomy
