Playhouse 22 Seeking Play Submissions

Playhouse 22 is now accepting submissions for their 2016-17 season. For those who have submitted before, it may be beneficial to note that they have altered their submissions process.

The theatre will be considering musicals, comedies and dramas of unknown quantities for the season, which will run September through June. Those wishing to submit for the theater's "On the Edge" black box series should specify, although shows being submitted for the black box may be considered for the mainstage, and vice versa.

There will be two rounds of submissions, with a third round if needed. In the first round, would-be directors should submit no more than four shows, giving the name of each show, a one-paragraph summary of each show in their own words, and the applicant's email address and phone number. If a show is an original work, it should be thus indicated. The deadline for submissions is January 21. Once all submissions are received, the Play Selection Committee will review and select submissions to continue to the second round. Applicants whose submissions have been selected will be sent a questionnaire to be completed in ten days. If the options need to be narrowed down further, a third round of interviews will be conducted.

Once this has been done, the Play Selection Committee will place their suggestions before the theater board, hopefully by mid-February, which will deliberate and make their decision soon afterward.

Seeking Submissions at Circle Players

Circle Players is now accepting submissions for its upcoming 2016-2017 season.

Prospective directors should email a list of up to three submissions with a brief synopsis of each show to circleplayersnj@gmail.com. Include complete contact information, and availability for the season. Write your own synopsis, rather than using one found online. All submissions must be sent in by Nov. 30. Please do not submit titles that you are submitting to other theaters.

If Circle Players does not have access to a copy of any script under consideration, producers will request a photocopy or electronic copy by Dec. 31. Directors may be called in for a brief interview. Final decisions will be made no later than Feb. 28.

Main Street Theatre is Seeking Play Submissions for 2016

The Sayreville Main Street Theatre Company is seeking play submissions for their 2016 season.

The season will consist of two large cast musicals, one junior musical, two plays, and a Christmas show. Please send your submissions to playselection@smstc.org.

In your email, please include your resume, contact information, and up to three submissions each with a complete synopsis, a brief statement of your vision for set, costumes, lights, and other sounds, estimated costs for the show. Please also include any scheduled future productions you are already taking part in.

Villagers Theatre is accepting submissions for the New Playwrights Series

The Villagers Theatre in Franklin Township is accepting submissions for the 2015 New Playwrights Series.

Selected plays will be presented as staged readings in the theater's black box at some point from Feb. to May 2015. The selected playwrights are required to attend the readings and to participate in discussions with the audience.

Submissions must be turned in by October 15. Scripts can have no more 20,000 words. All submissions must include the character breakdown and a detailed synopsis or they will not be considered. Please all include the genre of the play, a brief bio, and contact information. Scripts must be original, unpublished works. One act plays will be considered as well as full length ones. The theater is not accepting musicals. No hard copy paper manuscripts will be accepted. Plays with smaller casts and simple sets are preferable, but other plays will be considered as well.

The goal of the Villagers New Playwrights Series is to provide playwrights with an opportunity to glimpse the performance potential of their works in progress. Additional goals are to provide alternative performance opportunities for our local actors and directors and to expose our local

audiences to new works. All submissions will be considered for their potential to fulfill these goals.

Due to the fact that Villagers programs are supported, in part, by funds from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts/ Department of State (a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and administered by the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission through the State/County Partnership Local Arts Program), preference will be given to New Jersey resident playwrights.
